Dear Brooklyn Natural team,
Here are 2 concepts for the mural I would like to hand paint on your building. You may have to click “show/download images” to see them. The first is a series of portraits depicting the settlers of Bushwick and their related crops. I may add dates to that one. The second is an ode to the natives with fruits, vegetables, and farmland. Some of the skin colors will be modified to be more realistic and some of the portraits may be switched out for accuracy. Some objects may be shifted to fit the building architecture. Both are meant to tie into the “organic” idea but also create a historic and honorific feel which may attract tourists, and detract vandals.
The mural will be protected by anti-graffiti coating (5 year protection) and I will personally clean and repair it for a year as long as related supplies are covered. The painting will wrap around the building with the breaking point starting at the logo. If you have input or any stylistic examples that you’d like I am open to them, however additional mockups would cost $100 or be included if a down payment is made to begin work. Mural Agreement

Scope of Work: The Artist agrees to create a mural on the following surface: 49 Bogart St. on brick wall and window guards. The design and theme of the mural are as follows: A mural depicting the various peoples that settled Bushwick and their related crops, or the Native Americans in a farmland with fruits and vegetables, or another agreed upon theme.
Timeline: The mural project may commence between August 1st-7th, 2024, or shortly after the initial deposit, and is expected to be completed within 2-4 weeks from the start date.
Payment:
- Total Fee: $45,380 (Length: 110 feet, Height: 20 feet, Total area: 2,200 square feet at $20 per square foot)
- Deposit: $23,380 (50% of $44,000 + materials) due upon signing this agreement.
- Balance: $22,000 (50%) due upon completion of the mural in lump sum or installments of $2,000 per month for 11 months.
Materials: The Client agrees to provide/cover the cost of all necessary materials ($1,380) for the mural, including:
- Primer 5 Gallon, White: $170
- Paint: Cyan (Blue) x2, Magenta (Red), Yellow, Black, White x2, Green x3, $40/gallon – $400
- Anti-Graffiti Coatings x2: $450
- Anti-Graffiti Remover x3 + scrubs: $60
- Ladders: $250
- Brushes: $50
Responsibilities:
- Artist: Create the mural according to the agreed-upon design, within the specified timeframe, and maintain a clean work area.
- Client: Ensure the work area is accessible, provide necessary permits (if applicable), and make timely payments.
Repairs: Repairs are included once a month for 1 year. The Client agrees to purchase materials necessary for repairs, including a pressure washer, additional anti-graffiti coating, paints, etc.
Termination: Either party may terminate this agreement with written notice. In the event of termination, the Artist will be compensated for work completed up to the date of termination.
Changes and Amendments: This contract is subject to change and amendments during negotiations.
